Terms of Service

All of the Forums at SAILjazz are governed by a set of rules we call the Terms of Service. Please review these rules before confirming your membership as use of any SAILjazz Forum constitutes your agreement with these terms.

Ten years of managing Forums has convinced us that defined Terms of Service and standards of etiquette encourage open discussion for everyone. We appreciate your cooperation with these guidelines.

These Forums are provided as a public service by SAILjazz. However, the Forums and their content are the sole property of SAILjazz and are protected under copyright law. You may not copy, archive, quote or otherwise reproduce any content from these Forums for any purpose other than your own personal use. Compiling archives of these Forums for public access of any kind is expressly forbidden.

SAILjazz assumes no liability for the accuracy of any information posted to these Forums. Users relying upon information provided by any Forum at SAILjazz do so entirely at their own risk.

SAILjazz assumes no liability for the statements of any participant on these Forums. Participants are reminded that they are responsible for the messages they post to any Forum at SAILjazz.

The E-Mail addresses of authors or recipients of any posting are considered to be copyright information. Compiling, collecting and/or using these E-mail addresses for the purpose of solicitations of any kind is expressly forbidden. Violators will be prosecuted for violating SAILjazz's copyright on this information.

The Forum at SAILjazz are not to be used for any commercial purpose. Members may not post solicitations for products or services of any kind except as provided under the "Commercial Use" section below. Commercial purposes include advertising the sale of products or services, market research or studies, surveys or solicitations of any kind.

User agrees that SAILjazz may send promotional e-mails to user as a condition of participating on one or more Forums. In practice SAILjazz sends one email a week to all the users of the Forums.

SAILjazz, at its sole discretion, may terminate the access of any person whose behavior is inconsistent with the terms of service or SAILjazz's Acceptable Use Policy.

Acceptable Use Policy:

Post your comments on the appropriate Forum. You can visit SAILjazz's All Forum's Page for a complete list of all the Forums.

Discussing a subject that clearly belongs in another Forum only confuses the participants and lessens your chances of finding others to share the discussion.

Please LIMIT your comments to sailing. What brings everyone to SAILjazz is his or her common passion for sailing. NO POLITICS, NO RELIGION, NO ECONOMICS!

No FLAMES! In other words, don't resort to name-calling. It creates a hostile environment rather than one that is open and receptive to different ideas.

Disagreements are expected, but please do so in a manner that respects one another.

Make your subject line (the title for each post) descriptive yet brief.

Due to security issues, SAILjazz does not allow postings to contain html or attachments.

If you see something that you think is inappropriate and/or in violation of this Policy, please don't post a complaint to the Forum. Just send an E-mail to listmanager@sailjazz.com, identifying the Forum and problem. We will resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Commercial Use:

It is inappropriate to use the Forums to promote business or to commercialize a product. The Internet offers many venues for advertising purposes -- these Forums are NOT one of them. People joined these Forums in order to share information with each other -- not to create a marketing vehicle for your product or service.

Users with commercial interests are encouraged to participate in the lists. It is appropriate to answer questions that fall within your expertise. It is inappropriate to broadcast your company's products and services within the answer you post.

Signature lines with company contact information are acceptable.

Private individuals are permitted to post information regarding boats or accessories which are available for sale directly by the individual posting the information. These postings should not be made more frequently than once every two weeks.

It is inappropriate to use the Forums for research, studies or surveys without prior consent from SAILjazz.

Problem Resolution:

We will investigate each problem reported to determine if the parties involved have violated these policies. The person making the report will be informed of our findings via E-mail. If someone has violated these policies they will be notified via E-mail and asked not to do so again. Repeat offenders will have their Forum access terminated.
