What is the Difference Between Cross-Cut and Radial Sails?

Question: Cross-Cuts and radials sails are different, could you please explain how?

Answer: Crosscut sails are built with the panels running almost horizontally from the luff to the leech. They are built from Dacron and because Dacron has more strength and stretch resistance "across" the fabric, the panels need to be laid horizontally. In fact they are laid perpendicular to the straight line between the head and the clew of the sail.

Radial sails, on the other hand, are built from a laminated fabric with yarns laid "along" the fabric. The panels then radiate out of the corners of the sail with the loads going directly onto the yarns.
